Should You Go to an Urgent Care for Finger Dislocations

In order to get rid of your pain and start your healing process, it’s best to seek medical attention from a doctor immediately. If it’s an emergency or something that needs to be looked at right away, then you should visit a medical clinic like an urgent care facility as soon as possible. These clinics usually offer same-day appointments for patients who are seeking medical care but are not experiencing any serious issues. To make sure that everything is taken care of properly, here is a list of situations where an urgent care is needed: Shoulder dislocation : A shoulder dislocation is when your arm becomes detached from its socket due to injury.

Although finger dislocations may be minor injuries, they’re quite painful and embarrassing. It’s a lot easier to head down to your local urgent care center than sit through a multi-hour visit at an emergency room. However, unless you’ve broken a bone in your finger or hand, it’s unlikely that your emergency medical provider will be able to do much for your injury. But there are some things he or she can do: assess how severe your injury is and determine whether there’s any nerve damage in addition to setting dislocated bones. If you have swelling, they may use a splint on your finger or wrist while deciding whether X-rays are needed. You could also receive prescription medication such as ibuprofen if you’re experiencing swelling and pain.

You may be tempted to go to an urgent care if you dislocate your finger, but that’s not always necessary. Finger dislocations occur when one or more of your fingers is forcefully bent backwards, a common injury in athletes (who are often good candidates for urgent care). However, finger dislocations don’t need immediate medical attention; they typically heal on their own with time and rest. Since an urgent care visit will likely cost upwards of $200, your best bet is to put some ice on it and seek help from a doctor only if symptoms become painful or swollen.
